Erica Smith is a highly qualified creative industries and intellectual property expert with almost 20 years’ experience. Erica holds an undergraduate degree in Management Studies and a Bachelor of Laws degree. She also attained post-graduate degrees in International Business, Intellectual Property and International Sports Law and Management.
Since 2000, Erica has been the CEO of the Copyright Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers Incorporated (COSCAP) where she manages the rights of songwriters, publishers, performers and producers of sound recordings. She has an extensive research and consultancy experience and has been commissioned by agencies such as the CARICOM Secretariat, the Caribbean Export Development Agency, the World Intellectual Property Organisation and Compete Caribbean for work focused on intellectual property management, the creative industries and cluster development. She is currently a head tutor for the WIPO Academy.
